Senior Spotlights

Our Senior Spotlight series celebrates the incredible members of the Burns Sci Tech Class of 2026.

Through these features, we highlight a piece of each student’s journey and their plans for the future, while recognizing the impact they have made on our school community. As they prepare to aim to soar to new heights beyond Burns, we are proud to honor their hard work, dedication, and achievements.

We look forward to seeing all they will accomplish in this next chapter.

Senior Spotlight: Kaiden Bancroft

We are incredibly proud to celebrate Kaiden Bancroft as he graduates with the Burns Sci Tech Class of 2026!

Kaiden’s journey has been one of hard work, determination, and tremendous growth. Over the years, he has continued to push himself, showing resilience and a commitment to reaching his goals. It has truly been amazing for our school community to watch his progress and accomplishments along the way.

After graduation, Kaiden plans to pursue aviation classes as he works toward a future in the aviation field. His passion and drive are sure to take him far, and we are confident he will achieve great things as he follows this path.

The entire Burns community is so proud of Kaiden and all that he has accomplished. We are excited to see where this next chapter takes him and can’t wait to watch his dreams take flight.

Senior Spotlight: Aleah Aiken

We are proud to celebrate Aleah as she prepares to graduate with the Burns Sci Tech Class of 2026!

Aleah will be attending Warner University this fall, where she plans to pursue a career in teaching. Her passion for education is already evident, as she has spent time serving as a teacher’s assistant for multiple teachers across campus, gaining valuable experience and working toward her dream of becoming an educator.

In addition to her academic accomplishments, Aleah has been a dedicated athlete and leader within our school community. She has been a member of the indoor volleyball team for the past four years and played on the beach volleyball team for the last two, including being part of the inaugural season. Aleah is also an active member of SGA, continuing to make a positive impact on campus.

Aleah’s commitment, leadership, and passion for helping others make her an incredible role model. The entire Burns community is so proud of her and all she has accomplished. We can’t wait to see the difference she will make in the lives of her future students!

Senior Spotlight: Canyon Morgan

We are proud to celebrate Canyon Morgan as he prepares to graduate with the Burns Sci Tech Class of 2026!

Canyon joined Burns as a 5th grader and quickly learned that success would not come easy. Through determination and perseverance, he pushed through challenges and found his way. Along the journey, he was supported and guided by incredible teachers who helped shape the person he is today.

Known for his caring heart and sarcastic sense of humor, Canyon has built strong connections and developed a resilient spirit that will serve him well in the future.

As he steps into his next chapter, Canyon plans to enter the workforce and join his family’s businesses, Blue Line Automotive or Centroid Products. There is no doubt that his work ethic, character, and drive will continue to lead him toward success.

The entire Burns community is proud of Canyon and all that he has accomplished. We are excited to see what the future holds for him!

Senior Spotlight: Kristina Durning

We are proud to celebrate Kristina Durning as she prepares to graduate with the Burns Sci Tech Class of 2026!

Kristina is a Burns legacy student, having been part of our school community since kindergarten. Over the years, she has grown alongside Burns, demonstrating dedication, resilience, and a commitment to her goals. It has been truly special to watch her journey from her early days in elementary school to this exciting milestone.

This fall, Kristina will be attending Daytona State College to pursue their cosmetology program. Her passion for creativity and her vision for her future are sure to lead her to success in the field.

The entire Burns community is incredibly proud of Kristina and all that she has accomplished. As she takes this next step, we are excited to see her continue to grow, follow her passions, and aim to soar beyond Burns!

Senior Spotlight: Thomas Ingison

We are proud to celebrate Thomas Ingison as he prepares to graduate with the Burns Sci Tech Class of 2026!

Thomas’s journey has not been without its challenges. He has faced trials and tribulations that no young person should have to endure, yet through it all, he has shown incredible strength, resilience, and determination. Those experiences have helped shape him into the respectful, driven, and outstanding young man he is today.

Thomas has grown into a fantastic gentleman, and his perseverance is truly inspiring to those around him. He has continued to push forward, learning from every challenge and never losing sight of his goals.

After graduation, Thomas will be entering the United States Air Force, pursuing a path in Special Warfare within the Recon Division. His courage, discipline, and commitment make him well-suited for this next chapter of service to our country.

The entire Burns community is incredibly proud of Thomas and all that he has overcome and achieved. We are grateful for his dedication and look forward to seeing all he will accomplish in the future.

Senior Spotlight: Isabella Garcia

We are proud to celebrate Isabella Garcia as she prepares to graduate with the Burns Sci Tech Class of 2026!

Isabella has been accepted into AdventHealth University, where she will attend nursing school with plans of becoming a Labor and Delivery nurse. Her passion for caring for others and her dedication to her future make her an incredible example of what it means to pursue a meaningful career.

During her time at Burns, Isabella has also been a member of our theater department. She brought characters to life on stage with memorable performances such as. Ursula in The Little Mermaid Jr. and Mrs. Potts in Beauty and the Beast Jr. Her talent, confidence, and creativity have made a lasting impact on our school community.

The entire Burns community is so proud of Isabella and all that she has accomplished. We are excited to see her continue to shine as she begins this next chapter in healthcare and beyond!

Senior Spotlight: Garrett Payne

We are proud to celebrate Garrett Payne as he prepares to graduate with the Burns Sci Tech Class of 2026!

Garrett is a Burns legacy student, having been part of our school community from kindergarten through 12th grade. It is truly special to see his journey come full circle, highlighted by a photo with his kindergarten teacher, Mrs. Bray, alongside his graduation photo—a powerful reminder of how far he has come.

Over the years, Garrett has grown into a dedicated and hardworking young man, and it has been an honor for our school community to watch his progress from his earliest days at Burns to this important milestone.

After graduation, Garrett plans to enter the workforce while also continuing his education in college. His determination and commitment to building his future are evident, and we are confident he will find success in whatever path he chooses.

Senior Spotlight: Kuper Lawrence

We are proud to celebrate Kuper Lawrence as he prepares to graduate with the Burns Sci Tech Class of 2026!

Kuper has discovered a true passion for welding and has worked hard to pursue a path that aligns with his interests and goals. His dedication to learning a skilled trade reflects both his determination and strong work ethic.

After graduation, Kuper will be attending Daytona State College to study welding, with the goal of joining the pipefitters union. His commitment to his craft and his future is something to be admired, and we are confident he will find great success in the field.

The entire Burns community is proud of Kuper and all that he has accomplished. We are excited to see him continue to build his future and turn his passion into a rewarding career!

Senior Spotlight: Piper Tanner

We are proud to celebrate Piper Tanner as she prepares to graduate with the Burns Sci Tech Class of 2026!

Piper has been a BST Eagle since 2nd grade, and over the years she has grown into a dedicated, hardworking, and well-rounded young woman. Throughout her junior and senior years, she balanced her academics while working at the library, demonstrating responsibility, commitment, and a strong work ethic.

In addition to her job, Piper has been actively involved in both indoor and beach volleyball, where she showed determination, teamwork, and perseverance on and off the court. One of her greatest passions has been giving back to the sport by coaching younger co-ed volleyball teams, mentoring and encouraging the next generation of athletes. Her leadership and positive influence have made a lasting impact on those around her.

After graduation, Piper plans to continue working at the library while beginning classes at Daytona State as she works toward her future goals.

The entire Burns community is incredibly proud of Piper and all that she has accomplished. We are excited to see all that she will achieve as she continues to aim to soar!

Senior Spotlight: Emily Heather King

We are proud to celebrate Emily Heather King as she prepares to graduate with the Burns Sci Tech Class of 2026!

Emily has worked hard throughout her time at Burns, showing determination and a strong commitment to her goals. She has grown into a confident and capable young adult, ready to take on her next chapter.

After graduation, Emily plans to enter the workforce and begin building her future. Her motivation and work ethic will serve her well as she takes this important step.

Senior Spotlight: Amanda King

We are proud to celebrate Amanda King as she prepares to graduate with the Burns Sci Tech Class of 2026!

Amanda will be attending Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University, where she plans to major in Engineering Physics. Her passion for STEM and commitment to academic excellence have been evident throughout her time at Burns, and she has consistently challenged herself to grow and succeed.

Amanda has been deeply involved in a wide range of academic and extracurricular programs. She has participated in the Tomoka Regional Science and Engineering Fair for six years, Science Olympiad for five years, Envirothon for four years, and Orchestra for three years, just to name a few. In addition, she has taken on the rigor of the AP Capstone program, further demonstrating her dedication to high-level learning and research.

On top of her academic commitments, Amanda somehow finds the time to compete in gymnastics at the Xcel Platinum level, showcasing her discipline, time management, and drive both in and out of the classroom.

Through her involvement, Amanda has developed strong critical thinking skills, a spirit of collaboration, and a passion for discovery that will serve her well in her future studies and career.

The entire Burns community is incredibly proud of Amanda and all that she has accomplished. We are excited to see her continue to aim to soar as she begins this next chapter and know she will achieve great things ahead!

Senior Spotlight: Madilynn Moon

We are proud to celebrate Madilynn Moon as she prepares to graduate with the Burns Sci Tech Class of 2026!

Madilynn has been accepted to Virginia Commonwealth University (VCU), an incredible accomplishment that reflects her hard work and dedication. She has chosen to take a different path and will be joining the military, where she is excited to begin her training and work toward her goal of becoming a veterinarian.

Her commitment to serving others and pursuing a career that cares for animals speaks to her compassion, determination, and strength of character. Madilynn is ready to take on this next chapter with purpose and drive.

The entire Burns community is incredibly proud of Madilynn and all that she has accomplished. We are excited to see where her journey takes her and know she will continue to achieve great things as she moves forward.

Senior Spotlight: Kylasia “LayLay” Merriel

We are proud to celebrate Kylasia “LayLay” Merriel as she prepares to graduate with the Burns Sci Tech Class of 2026!

Kylasia is a beautiful person both inside and out, and her kindness, positivity, and determination have made a lasting impact on those around her. It has been a joy for our school community to watch her grow and work toward her goals.

This fall, Kylasia plans to attend the University of Central Florida, where she will begin her journey toward becoming a marine biologist. Her passion for the field and her commitment to her future are truly inspiring.

The entire Burns community is so proud of Kylasia and all that she has accomplished. We are excited to see where her journey takes her and can’t wait to watch her continue to grow and succeed!

Senior Spotlight: Cole Lucas

We are proud to celebrate Cole Lucas as he prepares to graduate with the Burns Sci Tech Class of 2026!

Cole has shown dedication, drive, and a strong commitment to pursuing his passions. Even while focusing on his education at Burns, he has spent his free time racing and building toward his future, showing incredible discipline and determination.

After graduation, Cole plans to continue pursuing his racing career while also working toward obtaining his real estate license. His ambition to follow multiple paths highlights his strong work ethic and vision for success.

The entire Burns community is proud of Cole and all that he has accomplished. We are excited to see where his journey takes him and look forward to watching him succeed both on and off the track!

Senior Spotlight: LynnMarie Christopher

We are proud to celebrate LynnMarie Christopher as she prepares to graduate with the Burns Sci Tech Class of 2026!

LynnMarie’s journey is one of strength, resilience, and determination. After being uprooted from her home in Atlanta just days before her sophomore year, she made the transition to Burns after being homeschooled and began her learning journey here in Florida. She quickly adapted to her new environment and worked incredibly hard to catch up, with the support of her teachers and guidance counselor.

During her time at Burns, LynnMarie has been involved in FCA and Game Club, while also staying active in her youth group at church. She has gained valuable real-world experience by working various jobs throughout her junior and senior years with the support of Vocational Rehab and EmployU, exploring career options and preparing for the workforce.

After graduation, LynnMarie has been accepted into Project SEARCH, where she will intern with Halifax Health and gain hands-on experience in a variety of roles within the healthcare field. She is excited to begin this next chapter and continue building her future.

The entire Burns community is incredibly proud of LynnMarie and all that she has accomplished. Her perseverance and positive spirit are truly inspiring, and we look forward to seeing all she will achieve!

Senior Spotlight: Catherine Lichtenwald

We are proud to celebrate Catherine Lichtenwald as she prepares to graduate with the Burns Sci Tech Class of 2026!

In the two years she has been at Burns, Catherine has made a meaningful impact through her dedication, focus, and commitment to her goals.

Catherine has been accepted to the University of North Florida, where she plans to enroll in the Nursing Prelicensure BSN program in the Fall of 2026. She has set her sights on becoming a pediatric nurse, with future goals of becoming a travel nurse or nurse practitioner.

Her passion for helping others and her clear vision for her future make her an inspiring member of the Class of 2026. The entire Burns community is proud of Catherine and all that she has accomplished, and we are excited to see her continue to grow and make a difference in the lives of others.

 This page is a great way get important announcements for the Class of 2026, and stay informed about event planning and any last-minute changes. Let’s work together to make this a memorable celebration for our seniors!

Graduation Fees:

For all seniors, payment can be made with cash, check, or card at the front office. Make checks payable to Burns Science and Technology. Graduation fees are TBA. Due 4/1/2026. Contact Ms. Lee if you have any questions.

GENERAL INFORMATION

Grad Bash Tickets on Sale:

See Ms. Lee to purchase your Grad Bash Ticket. Tickets will only be sold from TBA, or until they are sold out. The cost is TBA, which includes admission and charter bus transportation. Grad Bash Night is on Thursday, 4/30/2026, from 2 pm - 3:30 am. 

Senior Yearbook Photo Deadline:

On 12/18/2025, there will be a "Last Chance" Session at school - IF you do not go for a private senior session, you must be here on 12/18/2025 to have an official senior photo. The senior photo deadline is 12/19/2025.

Senior Class Photo:

Seniors, meet in the gym at lunch on TBA for the senior class photo.

Senior Yearbook Ads/Custom Page Deadline:

Treering yearbook ads are due by 4/15/2026. Don’t miss the chance to celebrate your student with a special message. Double-Page Spread $180, Whole-page ads are $75, and half-page ads are $50. Submit your ad before the deadline to be included in this year’s yearbook.

Cap & Gown Delivery Days:

Caps & gowns will be distributed on the day of graduation.

Homecoming Information:

Homecoming will be held on Friday, 11/14/2025, in the gym. Tickets will be sold two weeks before the dance. If you have any questions, please get in touch with Ms. Powers at PowersS@burnsscitech.org

Prom Information:

Prom will be held on Friday, 4/24/2026. Tickets will be sold two weeks before the dance: $50 for students and $70 for guests. If you have questions, contact Ms. Powers at PowersS@burnsscitech.org

Senior Breakfast & Legacy Walk:

The BooHoo Breakfast and Legacy Walk will take place on May 14th. Please note, the breakfast is planned, organized, and run entirely by the parents, and we are so grateful for their support in making this event possible.

Senior & 9th-12th Awards Program:

Awards Night will be held in the gym, and this event is by invitation only. Families of invited students are welcome to attend as we celebrate their achievements.

10th Grade Awards will be held on Thursday, May 21st, at 5:00 PM.
11th and 12th Grade Awards will be held on Thursday, May 21st, at 7:00 PM.
9th Grade Awards will be held on Tuesday, May 26th, at 6:00 PM.

We look forward to honoring our students together.

GRADUATION INFORMATION

Graduation Ceremony:

Graduation will take place on 5/23/2026, at 1:00 PM in the Burns Science and Technology Gym. There will be a maximum number of tickets per student announced at a later date.  Graduates must arrive at the high school by 12:30 PM in proper attire. Caps and gowns will be distributed upon arrival.

Graduation Attire for Graduates:

Graduates should dress in business-appropriate clothing under their gown to uphold the formality of the occasion. All graduates should remember that hairstyles are to be kept simple so that graduation caps will fit on the head properly. Caps are worn level on the head, not at an angle. Students are allowed AND encouraged to wear all academic cords (National/State/District). This includes but is not limited to military, AA, NHS, SGA, Capstone, and cords distributed during awards ceremonies.

There are 20 spots available for the seniors. If you want to have a spot, you must
fill out the parking form. Painting is optional. The design idea must be submitted to
Mr. Hargrave by no later than July 30th for approval. Email him at
hargraved@burnsscitech.org. If more than 20 forms are submitted, then the
students will be put in a lottery and picked at the end of orientation on August 5 th
and if you are selected to have a spot, it will cost $150. A payment plan of $40 a
quarter will also be offered for those who want it. This must be paid in full by
graduation for your senior to walk. The majority of the money will go to the senior
activities throughout the year. If you are painting a spot, you will be able to come
in on August 6 th , 7th, and 8 th from 8 am to 3:30 pm to paint your spot.
No refunds will be given after the spot it painted. No touchups or repainting after
the 8th unless you have permission from Mr. Hargrave and an administrator
has agreed to be present during the repaint.

Materials needed for painting

  • Latex paint- Exterior- water-based (Home Depot, Sherwin-Williams, Lowe’s) *no oil-based paint *No reflective paints

  • 1-2 Gallons of paint for base coat. 1qt (each color) for accents and details.

  • No Spray Paint

  • Brushes, rollers recommended to be 1/2- to 3/4-inch-thick nap with a pole, and sponges

  • Masking tape to mark of 4-inch border from the white lines

  • Towel or camping chairs to sit on

  • Paint can openers

  • Chalk to sketch designs

  • A broom or leaf blower to clean the spot off

  • Extra cloth to put under cans of paint and to rest paint brushes on

  • Trash bags

  • Optional but suggested: Sunscreen, hat, sunglasses, water, snacks, pop-up tents for shade, and a speaker

Design criteria

No drugs, alcohol, smoking, gang symbols or references, inappropriate images, bad
language, and no double meanings. You may not deviate from your submitted
design; what you submit, you must paint.

Painting tips

  • Tape the edges of the spot with the 4-inch tape before you start painting

*Do not paint on the white lines or parking lot curbs

  • Use chalk to sketch out ideas

  • Start painting the top of your spot and work your way down

  • Consider making or buying stencils

  • Limit your palate or share colors with friends, as paint is expensive

  • When painting, it will take around 1 quart for a base color of black or white. Another quart will be needed to paint over the base color with another solid color so it will take roughly 2 quarts of paint to cover your entire spot a solid color
