Last Friday, our K–8 students filled the Literacy Lab with creativity, confidence, and excitement during our First Annual Pitch Day. More than 50 students participated, stepping forward to present their original business ideas and showcase their entrepreneurial spirit. This inaugural event marks the beginning of an exciting tradition, and we look forward to watching it grow in the years to come.
Students came prepared and professional, presenting their concepts to a panel of judges that included board members, teachers, and staff. Many students used PowerPoint presentations, while others created presentation boards, product samples, and flyers to bring their ideas to life. From homemade food products and crocheted items to plants and handcrafted goods, the variety of businesses was truly impressive.
Some of the business names included Come to Sea Isla’s Sweet Treats, Brooks’ Pretty Little Plants, Brick + Build, and Adaline’s Scoop and Scrub, just to name a few. Each student demonstrated passion, creativity, and dedication as they confidently shared their vision.

Pitch Day is more than just a presentation. It is a powerful learning experience. Students develop entrepreneurship skills, build confidence, practice public speaking, and learn the importance of planning, leadership, and problem-solving. These experiences help prepare our students for future success both inside and outside the classroom.
Supporting student-led businesses not only benefits our school but also strengthens our entire community. By encouraging innovation and creativity at a young age, we are helping our students become thoughtful leaders and motivated learners.
Winning business ideas will earn the opportunity to sell their products at our First Annual Burns Bazaar on Saturday, April 11, from 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM. We can’t wait to see which students advance and share their amazing creations with our community.
Stay tuned for more information, and get ready to support our young entrepreneurs at the Bazaar. We are so proud of every student who participated and shared their ideas with confidence and courage!
