Every Wednesday, something magical happens on our campus: imagination takes shape, problem-solving becomes play, and a dedicated group of volunteers brings joy to students through the ever-popular Lego Club. This thriving club wouldn’t be possible without the generosity and enthusiasm of our incredible volunteers — Nicole, Chris, Mallory, Megan, Alexa, Damien, and Kerri.

Week after week, these volunteers show up with bright smiles, steady guidance, and an endless supply of encouragement. Their commitment transforms a pile of colorful bricks into a hub of learning, collaboration, and creativity. Whether it’s helping students build towering structures or encouraging them to think like engineers, their presence has made the Lego Club a highlight of the week for so many of our students.

A special shout-out goes to Chris, who continues to wow students with his custom Lego name tags — tiny works of art that showcase both creativity and craftsmanship. Some of the incredible projects from our club have even made their way to the display case at the New Smyrna Beach Library, a proud moment for our students and a testament to the meaningful work happening in this club.

Clubs like Lego Club do more than entertain — they inspire. They foster teamwork, spatial reasoning, and design thinking while giving students a fun, hands-on outlet to explore STEM concepts. In fact, one fourth-grade student has been so inspired that they’ve already started planning a Lego Robotics Club for next year! If you have a passion for Legos and robotics or simply enjoy supporting young minds as they dream big, we’d love your help in bringing this exciting new club to life.

Help Bridge the Gap—Volunteer at Burns Sci-Tech!

Did you know Burns Sci-Tech receives $2,400 less per student than traditional public schools? That’s a $2.64 million annual shortfall—but families can help close the gap through the power of time.

If every family volunteered just 10 hours per year, we’d generate nearly $350,000 in value for our school community!

For the 2025–2026 school year, we’re launching a comprehensive volunteer program that offers:

  • On-campus, off-campus, and at-home opportunities

  • Leadership roles and professional involvement

  • Easy hour tracking via Google Forms

  • Recognition for top contributors

Suggested Annual Hours:

  • 1 student = 20 hours

  • 2+ students = 30 hours

  • Single parents = 10 hours

Launching August 2025 — stay tuned for more details on how to get started and make a difference!

Let’s build something amazing—together. Thank you to our current volunteers for donating your time, talent, and heart to help our students grow.
