Our Amazing Community in Action: Beautifying the Campus Together

At Burns, what truly sets us apart isn’t just our innovative programs or hands-on learning; it’s our incredible community. Our staff, students, and families consistently go above and beyond to make our campus a welcoming, inspiring place for everyone. Whether it’s helping set up events, beautifying the campus, or lending a hand wherever it’s needed, the spirit of teamwork is always alive here.

Last week, while monitoring the Morning Mile and helping students get safely to class, Ms. Tudeen noticed that the flower beds around campus could use some love. She reached out to our Facebook community for plant donations—and our amazing families and staff showed up in a big way! Two parents even offered to help with planting.

On Monday, everyone came together, plants in hand, ready to transform the campus. Ms. Tudeen would like to extend her heartfelt thanks to:

  • Mrs. Hutchinson and Libby Osborne for donating all the snake plants

  • The McGhee family for donating a ton of liriope and iris, and for joining in to help plant them

  • All the families and students who brought plants and pitched in to plant and water them

  • Her partner, Whitney Wells, who stayed until noon, helping her plant

We were also able to transplant ferns found around campus between the second and fourth-grade buildings, thanks to the generosity of everyone who participated. What Ms. Tudeen thought would take an hour or two turned into a full morning, but it was all made possible by our incredible Burns community.

We would also like to thank Ms. Tudeen herself for noticing the opportunity to improve our campus, organizing this effort, and inspiring both staff and families to pitch in. Her dedication and hard work made a huge difference in creating a more beautiful and welcoming campus for our students and staff.

It’s moments like these that truly show what makes Burns special: a community that works together, supports one another, and always steps up.

If you have plants you’d like to donate or want to get involved in future campus beautification projects, please reach out to Ms. Tudeen at TudeenT@burnsscitech.org.

We can’t wait to do this again soon!
