There’s a little bit of magic in the air this time of year… and if you ask the students in Ms. Hall and Ms. Padgett’s 2nd grade classes, they’ll tell you exactly why.
With St. Patrick’s Day just around the corner, the hunt is on for one very tricky little guest a mischievous leprechaun who just might be hiding somewhere around campus.
But these second graders are ready.
The students were asked to bring in creative supplies from home, cardboard boxes, tin foil, tissue paper, and other craft materials, anything that could help them build the perfect trap. Once the supplies arrived, the classroom quickly turned into a workshop full of imagination, teamwork, and a little bit of leprechaun-catching strategy.
Some students worked individually, carefully designing traps with secret doors, shiny decorations, and clever hiding spots. Others teamed up in groups, putting their heads together to create larger, more elaborate traps. No two traps were the same, but every single one was filled with creativity.
Tin foil shimmered like pots of gold, colorful tissue paper brightened the room, and cardboard boxes transformed into clever contraptions designed to capture that sneaky visitor.
And just when the excitement couldn’t get any bigger…
A curious messge

arrived.
The students received an email from the very sneaky leprechaun himself! The little rascal had clearly heard about the traps being built and couldn’t resist sending a message back. You can imagine the excitement as the students read the note and wondered if their trap might be the one clever enough to catch him.
Will the leprechaun be caught?
Will he escape with his gold?
Or will he leave behind a little bit of magic?
One thing is certain, the creativity, teamwork, and excitement in Ms. Hall and Ms. Padgett’s classrooms made this St. Patrick’s Day project a memorable one. The students were proud of their designs, excited for the challenge, and fully ready to see if their traps were clever enough to catch that mischievous little visitor.
And if the leprechaun does sneak through…
He certainly can’t escape noticing all the amazing creativity waiting for him.
