This past Monday, students in Mr. Carignan’s Trade class at Burns Sci-Tech had the opportunity to experience a little of what life in the plumbing trade is like, thanks to a visit from Coleman Plumbing.
The Coleman team worked side by side with our high school students, showing them how to prep and solder fittings to copper pipes while introducing them to new tools and techniques used in the plumbing industry today. It wasn’t just a demonstration; students were able to roll up their sleeves and get hands-on experience, practicing skills that are essential in the field.

Opportunities like this are invaluable because they do more than teach technical skills. They give students a true glimpse into what it means to work in the trades, helping them connect classroom learning to real-world careers. For many, this kind of direct interaction sparks new interests and opens doors to future pathways.
At Burns, we believe in the importance of the trades and the role they play in our communities. Experiences like Monday’s plumbing workshop not only build confidence and understanding but also highlight the wide range of opportunities available to students beyond high school.
A special thank you to Coleman Plumbing for investing their time and expertise into our students’ futures. Partnerships like this ensure that our students are not only learning but also preparing for meaningful, skilled careers.

If you own a business and would like to be involved in this program, whether by working with students to prepare them for their future or through tool donations,
please reach out to Mr. Carignan at CarignanT@burnsscitech.org. Together, we can build opportunities that last a lifetime.
