We are proud to announce the grand opening of BST Podcast Studios! What began as a creative classroom project in Mr. McDonald’s AP Seminar and Research classes has quickly evolved into something truly special.

Originally, Mr. McDonald challenged his students to create a mock podcast as a fun and engaging way to encourage debate, collaboration, and critical thinking. Students were tasked with researching topics, forming arguments, and expressing their opinions in a respectful and well-informed way. The students enjoyed the process so much that the idea soon grew beyond the classroom, and now, they’re producing a real podcast.

Meanwhile, a few other students had been discussing the idea of launching a student-led culture and news podcast to keep their peers informed and connected. Combining both ideas, they brought BST Podcast Studios to life.

This new venture is more than just a creative project; it’s a real-world learning experience. Students gain valuable skills in communication, teamwork, research, and digital media production. They learn how to organize content, meet deadlines, and collaborate with others to produce something that reflects their ideas and voices.

Projects like this also help students build confidence as they practice speaking and presenting to an audience beyond the classroom.

Some of their first episodes include: “The Blue and The Green” and “Wait, Is This Learning?” Check out the links below:

Hosted by: Patrick and Julia

A weekly podcast that covers all things Burns High School. From theorizing what their teachers would be like as students, to ranking the school lunches. They discuss everything from school sports to culture and clubs. I believe the kids call this a “fun hang.” Episodes will air on Wednesday mornings.

Hosted by: Mr. McDonald and company

Brought to you by our AP Scholar students, this podcast will feature one main topic of discussion that the hosts researched beforehand. With their distinct perspectives, the students answer open-ended questions posed by Mr. McDonald and enter into their own world of discussion. Every episode will feature different students who are interested in the topic of the day. Think of this as a Socratic seminar in podcast form.

We encourage all our families to listen, share, and support our students in this exciting new endeavor. Their work represents the creativity, curiosity, and drive we strive to nurture in every student. These podcasts will be available wherever you get your podcasts (Spotify, Apple, Amazon, etc) and are great for a commute or background noise around the house.

A special thank you goes to Mr. McDonald for his leadership, innovation, and commitment to creating meaningful opportunities for our students to learn, grow, and thrive.

Stay tuned, this is just the beginning for BST Podcast Studios!
