A huge congratulations to all of our 6th–12th-grade students who participated in the annual Burns Science & Technology Charter School Science Fair yesterday. With more than 50 projects on display, the event showcased an impressive range of creativity, curiosity, and scientific thinking from our students.

This year’s fair would not have been possible without the incredible dedication of Mrs. Hawes and Mrs. Bender. Their commitment to organizing, planning, and coordinating every detail ensured a smooth and successful experience for everyone involved. They invited judges from across the county representing a variety of professions, allowing students to receive feedback from experts with real-world experience. In addition, several of our 11th and 12th-grade upper-level science students served as judges as well, further enriching the event and strengthening the mentorship culture within our school.

Science fair requires a tremendous amount of work from both teachers and students. From forming research questions and designing experiments to analyzing data and preparing presentations, each project represents hours of thoughtful effort. These projects are more than assignments; they are powerful learning experiences. Science fair teaches students how to think independently, investigate real-world problems, and communicate their findings clearly. Students learn to ask questions, test ideas, and persevere through challenges, skills that support academic growth and prepare them for future careers in STEM and beyond. Presenting their work also builds confidence and helps students learn to speak with clarity and purpose in front of both peers and professionals.

We are incredibly proud of every student who took on this challenge and demonstrated perseverance, curiosity, and a true commitment to learning.

Below are the results from this year’s Science Fair. Please take a moment to congratulate these students if you see them around campus this week!
