Burns Sci Tech students recently made a remarkable impression at the DECA Leadership Conference, demonstrating professionalism, creativity, and an undeniable drive for excellence. This event was more than just a competition; it was a powerful learning experience that allowed students to explore the world of business, marketing, and entrepreneurship in an engaging, hands-on way.
DECA, which stands for Distributive Education Clubs of America, is an international organization that prepares emerging leaders and entrepreneurs for careers in marketing, finance, hospitality, and management.
Having a DECA chapter at Burns Sci Tech provides students with a unique opportunity to apply what they’ve learned in the classroom to real-world business challenges. Through DECA, they gain practical experience, develop leadership and teamwork skills, and build the confidence to take on future professional roles.

At the conference, students participated in a variety of workshops and interactive sessions designed to strengthen their leadership and communication abilities. They had the opportunity to network with like-minded peers from across the region, share innovative ideas, and learn from industry professionals who offered valuable insights into what it takes to succeed in today’s business world.
The excitement was evident from the start. Many of our students were eager to share how much the experience inspired them not only to pursue their career goals but also to think bigger about their futures. They discussed gaining new confidence in public speaking, problem-solving under pressure, and understanding the importance of teamwork and integrity in the business world.
By the end of the conference, it was clear that the experience had left a lasting impression. Our students showed professionalism and positive attitudes and represented Burns Sci Tech in a positive light throughout the conference. Students returned to school energized and full of ideas, ready to bring what they learned back to their classrooms.
This success would not have been possible without the leadership and dedication of our entrepreneur teacher, Mrs. Weis, who has worked tirelessly to guide and mentor our DECA students. Her passion for student success and her commitment to excellence have helped bring the DECA program to Burns Sci Tech, which will truly empower students to reach new heights.
The DECA Leadership Conference was a shining example of Burns Sci Tech’s mission in action: to prepare students not only for academic success but for leadership, innovation, and real-world achievement. Our students came back from this event proud, inspired, and ready to take on whatever challenge comes next.
