Burns Sci Tech high school students recently showcased their skills, teamwork, and innovation at the SeaPerch competition, earning top placements and representing our school with excellence.
SeaPerch is an international underwater robotics program where students design, build, and operate remotely operated vehicles (ROVs). Through this hands-on experience, students apply real-world STEM concepts including engineering, physics, and problem solving as they navigate underwater obstacle courses and complete mission-based challenges. Competitions bring together students from across the region and beyond, creating an environment that fosters collaboration, creativity, and technical growth.
At Burns Sci Tech, SeaPerch is more than a competition. It is an opportunity for students to take what they learn in the classroom and apply it in a meaningful, real-world setting. Students are challenged to think critically, troubleshoot problems, and work as a team under pressure. These are skills that will serve them far beyond high school.
Our students rose to the challenge and delivered outstanding results:
Senior Division Results:
1st Place Overall and Fastest Speed Medal: Ian Becher, Dominik Oliver, Jonah Renshaw, and Brody Thomas
2nd Place: Abigale Brosky, Garrett Hanes, Taylor Landers, and Adrian Moccia
3rd Place: Michael Attard and Samson Brosky
Junior Division Results:
3rd Place: Evan Aldridge, Marlena Segebarth, and Anita Thayer
These achievements reflect not only the technical ability of our students, but also their dedication, perseverance, and commitment to excellence. Each team spent countless hours designing, building, testing, and refining their ROVs to compete at such a high level.
Programs like SeaPerch play a vital role at Burns Sci Tech. They provide students with hands-on STEM experiences that spark curiosity, build confidence, and open doors to future career pathways in engineering, technology, and beyond. They also reinforce the importance of teamwork, communication, and resilience.
We are incredibly proud of our SeaPerch teams and all they have accomplished. Their success is a testament to the strength of our STEM programs and the opportunities available to our students.
