We are proud to announce that Burns has officially earned an A rating! This distinction is more than just a letter; it’s a reflection of the hard work, resilience, and commitment shown by our students, teachers, staff, and families.
It represents the strength of our academic programs, the support systems we have in place, and the vibrant, student-centered culture that drives everything we do. We are celebrating this achievement as a school family and using it as fuel to keep growing stronger together!
An Ocean of Learning
In Mrs. Duncan’s incredible classroom, students will be thrilled to see how much our Caribbean reef octopus has grown over the summer. Introduced at the end of last school year, this unique classroom resident quickly became a favorite, sparking questions, curiosity, and daily engagement with marine science. As it continues to adapt and thrive, feasting on its favorite frozen shrimp, this living lab adds a special kind of magic to our science curriculum. When students return, they’ll find that their eight-legged friend has grown right along with our school’s academic and hands-on opportunities.
The Library is Back—And Better Than Ever
We're thrilled to announce the return of the Burns library, redesigned to meet the needs of all learners on campus. For our K–6 students, the space will offer a warm, inviting area to foster early literacy and a lifelong love for reading. For our junior high and high school students, the library will include collaborative study areas and technology integration to support research, group work, and quiet focus.
Perhaps most exciting of all, Miss Powers, who previously inspired students in her high school English classroom, will now serve as our librarian. Her passion for literature, student engagement, and academic support will be the driving force behind the library’s renewed vision, a place where books and tech come together to open doors to endless possibilities.
Art in Action: A New Mural in Progress

Our campus is coming to life with color and creativity, thanks to Mrs. Goetz, who is currently painting a beautiful mural on Mr. Levey’s portable. This project is more than just paint; it’s a daily reminder to students that their environment matters. It encourages pride in their school and adds vibrancy to a space where learning happens every day. Art has the power to inspire, and we’re proud to support projects that enrich the academic environment with creativity and joy.
A Little Library with a Big Purpose

We’re also excited to share the addition of a new Little Library near the Book Nook. This charming mini-library allows students to borrow and exchange books freely, promoting independent reading and a culture of sharing. Whether it’s a new story to read at home or a favorite book to pass along, the Little Library encourages students to take ownership of their reading journey in a fun and accessible way. It’s one more way we’re helping build confident, enthusiastic readers.
At Burns, every improvement we make is designed with one goal in mind: to help students grow, learn, and thrive in a safe, inspiring environment. From science and literature to art and student wellbeing, we are investing in spaces and experiences that reflect our school’s values and belief in every child’s potential. With an A-rating behind us and a year full of possibilities ahead, we’re excited to keep moving forward together.
