There has been some extra excitement in kindergarten this week.
All four Kindergarten classes had the incredible opportunity to watch chicken eggs hatch, and the moment finally arrived. Students have been eagerly observing the process, and seeing the chicks hatch brought their learning to life in a way they will not forget.
Over the past few weeks, students have been learning all about the hatching process. The eggs were carefully kept in incubators, where they stayed warm and safe while the chicks developed.
After about 21 days, the students began to notice small changes, leading up to the exciting moment when the chicks started to hatch. Once they arrived, the chicks were placed under heat lamps to keep them warm and comfortable as they continued to grow.
One of the most amazing parts has been watching the chicks actually make their way out of their shells. Students saw how the chicks would work a little at breaking through, then stop to rest before trying again. It was a powerful lesson in patience and perseverance.

Even more incredible, once one chick had hatched, it would often notice another egg starting to move. The chicks would snuggle up next to the egg and even appear to help encourage the next chick as it began to peck its way out. Watching this unfold in real time brought so much excitement and wonder to the classroom.
Throughout this experience, students have learned about the life cycle, patience, and care it takes for living things to grow. They have been so engaged, asking questions, sharing what they have learned, and eager to tell anyone who will listen all about their chicks.
One of the highlights has been getting to monitor and gently hold the chicks, creating a hands-on learning experience that has sparked curiosity and excitement across all four classrooms.
It has been pure joy for both students and teachers to watch this amazing process. A truly unforgettable experience and a wonderful reminder of how powerful real-world learning can be.
