From a young age, Luke Underwood was fascinated by how things work, especially aircraft. That curiosity turned into a career path during his time at Burns Sci-Tech, and today, he’s already well on his way to becoming a professional aviation mechanic.
A proud 2024 graduate of Burns, Luke is currently attending Epic Flight Academy to complete his aviation maintenance certification after receiving a $45,000 scholarship to support his training. His journey took off the summer before his senior year when he began an internship with Advanced Flight Support through the Entrepreneurship Archway program at Burns. That experience gave him hands-on exposure to aircraft maintenance and operations, helping him realize that this was exactly where he belonged.
Luke’s hard work and commitment during his internship stood out, leading to his scholarship award and a continued role with Advanced Flight Support, where he now works while finishing his classes at Epic. His day-to-day includes learning the ins and outs of aircraft systems, maintaining safety standards, and contributing to a fast-paced industry that relies on precision and expertise.
Luke’s story is a perfect example of how early exposure to real-world opportunities can shape a student’s future. At Burns, our Archway programs are designed to connect students to their passions, build meaningful skills, and open doors for career and college success.
We’re incredibly proud of Luke and all that he’s achieving. His dedication to learning, attention to detail, and steady focus on his goals make him a standout alum, and we can’t wait to see all the places his career will take him next.
