Hunter Johnston has always had a strong appreciation for Florida’s natural environment, and now he’s turning that passion into a career. A 2023 graduate of Burns Science and Technology Charter School, Hunter is currently working on campus in the cafeteria while preparing for the next step in his journey.

His goal is to become an officer with the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC), and he’s looking forward to applying once the next hiring cycle opens in mid to late 2025. As an FWC officer, Hunter hopes to protect Florida’s land and aquatic ecosystems, learn the ins and outs of state conservation laws, and spend his days outdoors doing work he believes in.

In the meantime, Hunter continues to give back to the Burns Sci Tech community. This year, he helped coach both coed basketball and flag football, sharing his time and experience with younger students and serving as a positive role model.

His drive, commitment, and sense of purpose are clear in everything he does. We’re proud to see Hunter investing in his future while still making a difference here at Burns.

We can’t wait to see all that lies ahead for him as he steps into a career in conservation and public service.
