As we close out another incredible school year, we proudly reflect on the tremendous growth and success of our Burns SciTech FFA students and the dedicated leadership that helped guide them every step of the way.
At the center of it all is Mrs. Roof, our devoted Agriculture Teacher and FFA Advisor. Her passion for agricultural education, tireless work ethic, and unwavering belief in her students have helped shape one of the most successful and dynamic years in our FFA chapter’s history. From coaching students for competitions and preparing animals for show, to organizing leadership trainings and fundraising efforts, Mrs. Roof has gone above and beyond to ensure our students are equipped to learn, lead, and succeed.
FFA Students Step Up to the Challenge

Throughout the year, our middle and high school FFA students demonstrated an incredible commitment to excellence. They participated in Career Development Events (CDEs) and Leadership Development Events (LDEs), competing at the sub-district and district levels, and many advanced to the state level, representing Burns SciTech with pride and professionalism.
FFA members also had the opportunity to showcase their skills in animal science. Students raised and showed rabbits, chickens, lambs, goats, and cows, participating in the Volusia County Fair in November and the Florida State Fair in February. These hands-on experiences not only deepened their agricultural knowledge but also instilled responsibility, patience, and dedication.
Growing Leaders: Chapter Officer Leadership Training
In the fall, our middle and high school officer teams attended Chapter Officer Leadership Training (COLT), where they sharpened their communication and team-building skills, built lasting friendships, and prepared to lead their chapters with confidence and integrity throughout the year.
Celebrating at the 97th Florida FFA State Convention

The year concluded on a high note as several of our FFA members attended the 97th Florida FFA State Convention. Students participated in hands-on workshops, listened to nationally recognized motivational speakers, and competed in state-level competitions.
We’re proud to share some of the amazing recognitions earned by our students this year while at the State Convention:
🏆 Burns SciTech Middle FFA Chapter was named a State Premier Chapter
🌿 Kinsey Campbell earned 4th place in the state for the Ornamental Horticulture Demonstration CDE in the Artistic Arrangement category
🎤 Our Opening and Closing Ceremonies (OCC) team advanced to state finals and earned 4th place in the state

Congratulations to our outstanding OCC team!!

Behind every trip, event, and competition was an incredible network of support. With the help of our Burns SciTech FFA Alumni and Supporters, students and their families worked tirelessly to raise funds to make these opportunities possible. Through creative and community-driven efforts, including monthly Music Bingo nights, Fill the Bucket fundraisers, the Pick the Date Calendar fundraiser, a live Cake Auction with a real auctioneer at the FFA Banquet in May, and more, our students helped raise the funds needed to cover travel, registration, supplies, and more. We are beyond thankful to our community for helping make these learning experiences a reality.
A Heartfelt Thank You
This unforgettable year would not have been possible without the guidance of Mrs. Roof, the support of our families and BST FFA Alumni, and most of all the hard work and dedication of our incredible students. The Burns SciTech FFA program continues to grow because of the shared belief in what our students can achieve when given the right tools, support, and leadership.
Here’s to another year of living the FFA motto:
Learning to Do, Doing to Learn, Earning to Live, and Living to Serve.
We can’t wait to see what the future holds for our amazing FFA students!
