The Burns boys' basketball program continues to grow, learn, and move forward. While the program is still developing, this season has marked an important step in the right direction through hard work, leadership, and commitment from both players and coaches.
The varsity boys' basketball team currently holds an 8–8 record, a meaningful improvement that reflects growth in consistency, teamwork, and confidence. The progress seen this season is the result of continued development and a clear focus on building the program the right way.
A key part of this growth has been the connection between the middle school and high school teams. Coach Hunter, Boys Middle School Head Coach, plays an important role in strengthening that connection. A former Burns student and player, Coach Hunter was part of Burns’ first graduating class in 2023. He now serves as the middle school head coach and an assistant coach for the high school team, helping align expectations and development from junior high through varsity.
Under his leadership, the middle school team is currently 4–3, showing steady progress and competitiveness. The middle school players are fully invested in the program and can be found at every home varsity game, cheering on the high school team and bringing energy to the gym. That enthusiasm has made a noticeable impact, and the varsity team has risen to meet it.

The varsity team is led by the dedicated father-and-son coaching duo, Coach Bryan Rush and Coach Richard Rush (R2). Their energy, consistency, and commitment have helped establish direction and accountability within the program. The players have responded with increased effort, focus, and pride in representing Burns.
As the season comes to a close, we invite the community to join us for our final home game and Senior Night, where we will honor four seniors: Cain, Levie, Justin, and Tristan. Their leadership and dedication have helped move the program forward this season.
The evening will begin with the boys' middle school game at 5:30 PM, followed by the varsity Senior Night game at 7:00 PM. Admission is free for students in grades 9–12. The first 20 students will receive takedown towels, and fans can enjoy half-time giveaways, a three-point contest where students will have the chance to earn a dress-down day, and concessions will be open throughout the evening.
This season represents real progress for the Burns boys'
basketball. With committed coaches, engaged players, and growing school support, we cannot wait to see the future of this program soar.
