PERSONALIZED LEARNING PLANS
Burns Sci-Tech High School offers a flexible, student-centered academic model designed to individual post-secondary goals. Students are guided through Personalized Learning Plans that align coursework, interests, and future goals, with the ability to adjust as students evolve.
Personalized Learning Plans are flexible guides, not fixed tracks. Each plan is reviewed regularly and supported by advisors in partnership with families, allowing students to adjust their academic focus as interests and goals evolve.
AP Capstone
A rigorous, college-preparatory Learning Plan emphasizing advanced coursework, research, analysis, and academic writing. Students engage in inquiry-based learning aligned with the AP Capstone program and other advanced academic opportunities, building skills essential for success in higher education. Participation in AP coursework, including AP Capstone, qualifies students to earn credit toward Florida Bright Futures Scholarship eligibility, supporting both academic preparation and postsecondary affordability. Best suited for students who: •Plan to pursue a four-year college or university •Thrive in research, writing, and academic analysis •Seek advanced academic challenge and recognition
College
A deliberately structured Learning Plan that integrates academic coursework with applied learning, allowing students to pursue a balanced high school experience aligned to their individual interests and post-secondary goals. Students in this pathway engage in both academic and experiential coursework within a clearly defined, multi-year plan. This pathway provides flexibility while maintaining high expectations, ensuring students graduate prepared for college, career, or a combination of both. Best suited for students who: •Want a blend of academic and applied learning •Are still refining postsecondary goals •Benefit from a structured yet flexible academic plan
Career
A hands-on, career-aligned Learning Plan emphasizing experiential learning, technical skill development, and real-world application. Students participate in project-based coursework, career exploration, and applied learning experiences designed to prepare them for the workforce, technical training, or postsecondary education with a practical focus. This pathway prioritizes transferable skills such as problem-solving, collaboration, communication, and adaptability. Best suited for students who: •Learn best through hands-on experiences •Are interested in career exploration or technical fields •Want practical preparation alongside academic instruction
