It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas all around the Burns campus! The holiday spirit is alive and thriving, from classrooms decked with festive decorations to students and staff embracing the season with joy and creativity.

The celebrations kicked off with elves showing up after Thanksgiving break, thanks to our teachers who dressed up to surprise students, and the fun hasn’t stopped since! They’ve kept the festive energy going with holiday aprons, twinkling Christmas lights, and new cheerful accessories popping up each day. Our staff spirit has been just as bright as our students’, making the whole campus feel magical.

Last Friday, students brought their creativity to life during Hat Day, showing off everything from classic Santa hats to sparkling reindeer antlers, festive elf caps, and even handmade holiday creations. The hallways were alive with laughter and imagination as students and staff expressed their unique holiday spirit through their festive headwear. This Friday, we’ll continue the fun with Holiday Shirts, featuring bright colors, playful designs, and cheerful messages that celebrate the season. The festivities will culminate on Friday, December 19th, with Holiday Pajamas, bringing warmth, comfort, and smiles to every corner of campus. These spirit days are more than just fun; they’re a celebration of our students’ creativity, joy, and sense of community, spreading cheer throughout Burns Sci-Tech.

Adding to the excitement, Burns students are showcasing their incredible talent in theater next week with Willy Wonka Jr.! Performances will take place on Tuesday, December 16th, and Wednesday, December 17th, at 6:00 PM in the gym. Our students have poured their energy, creativity, and hard work into this production, from acting and singing to set design and costumes. Their talent and dedication are truly inspiring, and the performances promise to be a magical experience for all who attend.

Meanwhile, Mr. Carignan’s Trade Class has become our very own Santa’s helpers, and they are hard at work building this year’s Christmas float with the theme Superheroes. Projects like this are more than just festive fun; they give students hands-on experience in design, construction, problem-solving, and teamwork. By working on real projects with tangible results, our students develop valuable skills that go beyond the classroom, learning how to plan, collaborate, and bring creative ideas to life. Their dedication is evident in every detail of the float, from structural design to artistic touches, and it’s a reminder of how talented and capable our students truly are.

The float will make its debut in two local parades this Saturday, December 13th. Catch it at the Edgewater Parade at 9:00 AM and again at the Oak Hill Parade at 2:00 PM. Be sure to come out and look for their float as it showcases their creativity, craftsmanship, and holiday spirit to the community!

From spirited dress-up days to exceptional theater performances and hands-on projects like the Christmas float, Burns students are making this season magical. The campus is buzzing with joy, laughter, and holiday cheer, reminding everyone that the holidays are about creativity, community, and coming together to celebrate the talents and hard work of our students.
