Growing Stronger, Competing Harder: The Future of Burns Athletics

At Burns Sci Tech, athletics is about more than wins and losses. It is about growth, perseverance, teamwork, and discovering what is possible through hard work and dedication.
This fall, our Eagles have given us plenty of reasons to celebrate! From historic winning seasons and record-breaking accomplishments in volleyball to the continued growth of our Boys Golf program and personal bests on the Cross Country course, our athletes are showing what it means to represent Burns with pride.
These achievements reflect the dedication of our athletes, coaches, and school community, and offer an exciting glimpse into the future of athletics at Burns Sci Tech.
Our programs are growing, our athletes are rising to the challenge, and we are just getting started!
Burns Volleyball: A Season Defined by Growth and Perseverance
This season has been an incredible one for Burns Volleyball, with our JV and Varsity teams demonstrating determination, resilience, and a commitment to getting better every time they step onto the court.
JV Volleyball: A Historic First

For the third season of our JV Volleyball program, our athletes accomplished something truly special: six wins and the first winning season in the history of the program!
Building a successful athletic program takes time. It requires athletes who are willing to learn, coaches who are committed to developing their players, and a team culture that values progress as much as results.
Our JV girls embraced that challenge. Throughout the season, they continued to develop their skills, build confidence, and learn how to compete together. Finishing with six wins is a milestone worth celebrating, but the growth behind those wins is what makes this season so meaningful.

These athletes are building the foundation for the future of Burns Volleyball. As they continue to develop and move through our program, they will bring the experience, confidence, and determination they have gained this season with them.
We are incredibly proud of our JV athletes and grateful to Coach Sara and Coach T for their leadership and dedication to helping these players grow.
Six wins. Three seasons of building. One historic milestone. And so much more to come!
Varsity Volleyball: Raising the Bar

Our Varsity team delivered a season for the record books, finishing with an impressive 19–8 overall record, an undefeated 6–0 district record, and a runner-up finish at the SSAA 5A State Championship!
The team also tied for third place in the preseason tournament and earned Bronze Champion honors at the SSAA Invitational.
These accomplishments represent more than a successful season. They reflect the hard work, discipline, and perseverance required to compete at a high level. Our athletes faced challenges, adapted, and continued pushing one another to improve, demonstrating what is possible when talented athletes commit to a shared goal.
We also saw athletes step into new opportunities, including Makenna Drollinger and Kira Walker, who moved up to Varsity and rose to the challenge. Their contributions highlight the strength of a program that develops athletes at every level.
CELEBRATING OUR SENIORS: JULIA SULLE (#2), LILLIANNA SANCHEZ (#9), AND RYLEIGH DROLLINGER!

We are proud to recognize these three seniors for their contributions to Burns Volleyball. Thank you for your dedication, leadership, and commitment to your teammates. You have helped shape this season and leave a lasting mark on our program. We wish you all the best as you begin your next chapters!
We are also grateful to Coach T and his coaching staff for bringing new leadership, building team traditions, and establishing a vision for the continued growth of Burns Volleyball.
To our Varsity athletes, thank you for embracing that vision and competing with determination. You have set a new standard for our program and given our school community something incredible to celebrate.
A record-breaking season, an undefeated district run, and a state championship appearance. Our Eagles have shown us what is possible when preparation meets perseverance.
GO EAGLES!
Middle School Volleyball: The Future Is Taking the Court!

With two weeks remaining in their season, our Middle School Eagles are working toward the playoffs and championships, which will be held right here at Burns.
Mark your calendars and come out to support our athletes!

Their journey is just beginning, and we are excited to watch them continue to grow.
Cross Country Teams Continue to Shine

Our High School and Middle School Cross Country teams have been putting in the work and seeing great results this season! The High School boys competed at Spruce Creek High School in one of their most competitive meets yet, finishing 6th as a team. With just 2 minutes and 13 seconds separating them from 3rd place, the team showed just how close the competition was. Several runners achieved personal bests as they continued preparing for the state meet.

Our Middle School boys and girls have also had a fantastic season, competing at Spruce Creek High School, Ivy Hawn, and Ormond Beach Middle School. Despite facing some challenging courses, the team has demonstrated determination, teamwork, and steady improvement, with many runners achieving personal bests along the way. A special congratulations to Hayden for placing 1st in the boys' elementary division at Ivy Hawn!
We are proud of all our runners for their hard work, perseverance, and commitment to improving each week. With their final race of the season coming up this Saturday, let's wish our Cross Country teams the best of luck! We are cheering them on as they finish the season strong and look forward to celebrating all they have accomplished. Go Eagles!
Boys Golf: Three Seasons in the Making

The dedication, growth, and perseverance we see across our athletic programs are a reflection of what makes our school community special. Our Boys Golf program is another great example of what can be accomplished in a short time when athletes, coaches, and the school community come together with a shared commitment to success.
Now in its third season, Burns Boys Golf has achieved its best season yet, finishing with an outstanding 10–2 record!
The team closed out its season with a victory over Brevard Heat in Melbourne, winning by a score of 181–200.
Burns' top scorers in the final match were:
Nick Underwood: 40
Gabe Guzman: 43
Caiden Roosa: 47
Garrett Hanes: 51
We congratulate these athletes on their performances and the entire team on an exceptional season!
Celebrating Our Seniors: Nick, Gabe, and Garrett!
This season is especially meaningful as we celebrate three outstanding seniors: Nick Underwood, Gabe Guzman, and Garrett Hanes!
These three Eagles have been part of the journey as our Boys Golf program has grown and developed, and we are incredibly proud of everything they have accomplished. Their hard work, dedication, and commitment have helped make this the best season in Burns golf history!
As they prepare to graduate and begin their next chapters, they leave behind more than impressive scores and a winning record. They leave a legacy of growth, perseverance, and achievement that future Burns golfers can look up to and build upon.

Nick, Gabe, and Garrett, thank you for representing Burns with pride and helping take our golf program to new heights. You will be missed, but we cannot wait to see what the future holds for each of you!
Once an Eagle, always an Eagle!
Golf requires patience, focus, discipline, and the ability to move forward after a difficult shot. Every round presents new challenges, and success depends on an athlete's ability to remain composed, learn from mistakes, and continue working toward improvement.
Those lessons extend far beyond the golf course.
In just three short years, our Boys Golf program has developed into a competitive team with a winning record and a new standard to build upon. That progress reflects the dedication of our student-athletes and the commitment of Coaches Samson, Hatcher, and Chris, who have helped guide and develop the program.
We thank our coaches for investing in our athletes and helping them discover what they can accomplish through hard work and perseverance.
Three seasons. A 10–2 record. The best season in Burns golf history. Three seniors leaving their mark on the program.
That is what growth looks like, and we cannot wait to see what the next chapter brings!
Congratulations, Eagles! GO EAGLES!
Basketball Is Back: Building on Last Season's Success!
The excitement doesn't stop with volleyball, golf, and the launch of soccer! Basketball season is right around the corner, and we are ready to see our Eagles back on the court!
Under the leadership of our father-son coaching duo, Coach Bryan Rush and Coach Richard Rush, alongside one of our very own, Coach Hunter Johnston, a member of Burns' first graduating class, our basketball program is building on an exciting foundation.

Last season was the program's best yet, and we are looking forward to seeing what this coaching staff and our athletes accomplish together this year!
Having a Burns alumnus return to help lead our athletes is especially meaningful. It reflects the kind of community we want to build: one where students grow, graduate, and continue to contribute to the school and programs that helped shape them.
As our basketball program continues to develop, we look forward to building on last year's success, strengthening our team culture, and creating new opportunities for our student-athletes.
AND NOW, IT'S TIME TO HIT THE COURT!

Middle School and High School basketball tryouts are scheduled for Wednesday, October 21!
We are excited to welcome our returning athletes and see new players step up, challenge themselves, and become part of the Burns basketball family.
Good luck to everyone trying out! We cannot wait to see the determination, teamwork, and Eagle pride our athletes bring to the court this season.
Let's build on last year's success and make this season another one to remember! GO EAGLES!
A New Chapter: Burns Soccer Is Coming!
As we celebrate the accomplishments of our established programs, we are also looking toward an exciting new chapter in Burns athletics.
This year, Burns Sci Tech is launching its inaugural soccer season!
Adding soccer represents another step forward in our commitment to expanding athletic opportunities for our students. Every new sport creates opportunities for more athletes to discover their strengths, develop new skills, build friendships, and experience the lessons that come from being part of a team.
For some students, athletics becomes a place where they discover confidence they did not know they had. For others, it becomes an opportunity to develop leadership, learn perseverance, or find a community where they feel they belong.

That is the value of growing our athletic programs.
As Burns continues to expand, we want our students to have more opportunities to explore their interests, challenge themselves, and find their place within our school community.
Our volleyball and golf teams demonstrate what can happen when a program is allowed to grow. Now, we are excited to begin that journey with soccer and see what our inaugural season will bring.
Every program starts somewhere. Every tradition begins with a first season. And every successful team is built one athlete, one practice, and one opportunity at a time.
We cannot wait to see the traditions our soccer athletes will establish and the legacy they will help create.
The Bigger Picture: Building the Future of Burns Athletics
When we look at our JV Volleyball team's historic first winning season, our Varsity Volleyball team's record-breaking accomplishments, our Boys Golf team's remarkable progress in just three years, and the dedication and personal achievements of our Cross Country runners, we see a common theme.
Growth does not happen overnight. It happens through perseverance, commitment, and a willingness to keep moving forward.

Our athletes are learning to compete, overcome setbacks, support one another, and work toward goals that once may have seemed out of reach. Whether they are working toward a winning season, improving their personal records, or building a program from the ground up, our students are discovering the value of hard work and determination. Our coaches are building teams, establishing traditions, and creating opportunities for students to develop both on and off the field.
And our school continues to grow, creating more opportunities for students to experience the benefits of athletics, build lasting friendships, and discover what they can accomplish as part of a team.
We are proud of our JV and Varsity Volleyball players, our Boys Golf team, our Middle and High School Cross Country runners, and every athlete who represents Burns Sci Tech. We are excited to cheer on our Middle School volleyball teams as they head into the postseason, and we look forward to welcoming soccer into the Burns athletic family.
To our coaches, athletes, families, and supporters: thank you for being part of this journey. Your dedication and encouragement help make these accomplishments possible.
The records are worth celebrating. The championships and victories are exciting. The personal bests and milestones deserve recognition. But the growth, character, and determination our athletes demonstrate along the way are what make us most proud.
At Burns Sci Tech, we are not just building teams. We are building confidence, character, traditions, and a future filled with possibilities.
Our programs are growing, our Eagles are soaring, and the best is yet to come!
GO EAGLES!
