Bringing History to Life: Ms. Ferris’s Annual Third-Grade Wax Museum

History came to life at Burns Sci-Tech as Ms. Ferris’s third-grade RTI class presented its 4th annual Wax Museum! This much-loved tradition lets students explore fascinating people from history and the present while sharing what they’ve learned with the Burns Sci-Tech community.
To prepare for the event, each student selected a person to research and read about, wrote a report highlighting important details about their life, and transformed into that individual by dressing up in costume. From the moment visitors entered the museum, they were greeted by an incredible collection of historical figures, entertainers, athletes, and innovators!
The best part? These weren't ordinary wax figures! Families and classes from across campus were invited to explore the museum, where each student stood ready with a button in front of them. When a visitor pressed the button, the wax figure came to life and shared a fact about the person they were portraying. Visitors could continue pressing the button to discover all five facts, learning more with each press!
This year's museum featured an impressive variety of well-known individuals, from Dolly Parton and Babe Ruth to Jim Henson, just to name a few. Each student brought their chosen person to life with enthusiasm and creativity. Many looked remarkably like the individuals they portrayed, and some even memorized their facts, making their presentations that much more impressive!

The Wax Museum is a wonderful example of hands-on learning at its best. Students develop research, reading, writing, and public-speaking skills while building confidence and making meaningful connections with the people they've studied. It also gives families and fellow students a chance to learn something new in a fun and memorable way.
A huge congratulations to Ms. Ferris and her third-grade students on another fantastic Wax Museum! Your hard work, creativity, and dedication made this year's event a success. We look forward to seeing which fascinating figures will come to life next year!
