Our sixth-grade students recently celebrated an exciting milestone with their very first school dance, themed Neon 6/7, as they prepare to move from 6th to 7th grade. For many students, this was their first dance experience, making the night even more memorable as they took this step into a new chapter of their middle school journey.
The excitement began even before the dance with a fun, weeklong spirit celebration that helped build anticipation and school pride. Students kicked things off on Monday by wearing their House shirts, followed by an energetic 80’s Day on Tuesday. Wednesday highlighted the 6/7 theme, Thursday brought creativity with Twin Day, and Friday wrapped it all up with a bright and vibrant Neon Day, perfectly setting the stage for the big event.

When the night of the dance arrived, the gym was transformed into a glowing celebration. Black lights lit up the space, making neon colors shine and creating an unforgettable atmosphere. Ms. Brannen and her team did an outstanding job organizing every detail, turning the gym into a space full of energy, music, and excitement. DJ Cici and Abby kept the music going and the crowd engaged, while dance contests added an extra layer of fun and friendly competition.
Students truly showed up for the occasion, looking their absolute best. Many students arrived dressed in sharp suits, while others wore a variety of beautiful dresses that added to the excitement and energy of the evening. It was clear they came ready to celebrate, have fun, and make the most of their first dance experience.
Throughout the night, students enjoyed a variety of activities, including a candy bar, pizza, and plenty of glow sticks to keep the theme alive. Ms. West added a creative touch by painting glow tattoos, not to mention a balloon arch as you entered the gym, and a photo booth that gave students a chance to capture memories with their friends. As the night went on, the balloons became part of the fun, bouncing around the gym and adding to the laughter and excitement.

While this may be the first of many dances for our students, the first one is always special, and this event was no exception. It was a night filled with laughter, connection, and celebration as students created memories that will stay with them for years to come.
A heartfelt thank you goes out to all of the chaperones, the dance committee, and Ms. Brannen for their time, effort, and dedication in making this night so special for our students. We would also like to thank everyone who generously donated candy, soda, and decorations to help bring this event to life and make it such a fun and memorable experience for our students.
