K-1  Foundation through Community

Children experience hands-on lessons in all subject areas with a focus on STEAM that is both collaborative and creative. We value developing the whole child and create an inclusive environment where growth and development are measured in a multitude of ways. We know that your child is your whole world! 1st Grade

2-3 - Growth Mindset

We believe students develop passion for growth and learning when exposed to an environment that instills a growth mindset. This mental state empowers them throughout life, developing a strong foundation for success.

2nd Grade

  • Students are highly engaged and active with our highly respected STEAM certified teachers.
  • A balanced literacy program sets students up for success in their journey at Burns Sci-Tech.
  • Classrooms are well equipped with an array of technological devices, giving them hands-on experience.
  • Our teachers ensure that the learning environment is safe, secure, and fun.

3rd Grade

  • Students will find intrinsic motivation in learning.
  • A part of the growth process is students learning how to be independent and can begin to do things for
    themselves. 
  • Project-based learning will allow students to gain hands-on skills and knowledge through authentic,
    engaging, and complex problems.
  • Educating the whole child so they will be able to become learners and leaders who are inspired, able,
    and prepared to make a positive difference in the world

4-5 - Team Development

Our engaging team approach encourages learning through multiple modalities in a supportive, caring environment while holding students accountable for their own learning. 

4th Grade

Fourth grade is packed with hands-on science experiments, building stronger foundations in multiplication, division, and fractions, developing essay writing skills, and reading non-fiction text to learn - curriculum includes:

  • hands-on science experiments,
  • coding robotics and designing geometric cities, waterparks, and zoo adventures,
  • investigating Florida’s history, government, attractions, and geography,
  • building stronger foundations in multiplication, division, and fractions,
  • developing and composing opinion and informational essay writing skills,
  • and reading non-fiction text to learn while summarizing and analyzing essential information. 

5th Grade

5th grade ELA is an exciting time of adventure, hard work, and collaboration while learning the current state standards. 5th grade math is a time for delving into the language of math with challenging work that deepens the understanding and purpose of this universally important subject.

Get immersed in reading!

Here we closely study action-packed novels and create elaborate hands-on projects to showcase our understanding. Through a hands-on approach, we delve into writing essays by holding classroom debates and discussions to brainstorm ideas together.

Get calculating in math!

We learn math by taking a problem-based approach. Collaborating on real-world problems and sharing strategies allows us to learn current state math standards in a meaningful way.
